The UK House Price Index for July 2026, published by HM Land Registry on 16 September 2026, put the average price of a home in London at £550,037. That was 3.3% lower than in July 2025. HM Land Registry, 16 September 2026
Across England the average was £293,479, up 1.1% over the year, and across the United Kingdom £273,000, up 1.4%.
The index is compiled by HM Land Registry with the Office for National Statistics, Registers of Scotland, Land & Property Services Northern Ireland and the Valuation Office Agency. It is based on completed sales, so it lags agreed prices by several months, and a London-wide average conceals wide differences between neighbourhoods and property types.
The August 2026 index is due to be published at 9.30am on 21 October 2026.
